The 2026–2027 school year is officially underway, and Harford County Public Schools is welcoming students and staff back with excitement and enthusiasm!
Early on August 31, 2026, Dr. Dyann R. Mack joined County Executive Bob Cassilly at the Fleet Management Building to thank the employees who work behind the scenes to help ensure a successful start to the school year. They visited with transportation employees and recognized their hard work preparing buses, equipment, and operations for the return of students.

Then it was time to welcome students! Dr. Mack and local VIPs visited Bel Air Elementary School to celebrate the first day of school and greet students as they arrived. Students were welcomed with cheers, pom-poms, high-fives, and plenty of smiles. Buster the Bus and a couple of therapy dogs were also on hand to help make the morning extra special.

Across Harford County, schools opened their doors to students ready to learn, reconnect with friends, meet new teachers, and begin another year of growth and discovery.
The excitement of the first day was contagious, and HCPS is looking forward to all that the 2026–2027 school year has in store!
